Sri Lanka's Finance Ministry said hackers breached the External Resources Department system and stole $2.5 million linked to a foreign-currency payment.
The government said Thursday the loss was the largest amount ever stolen by hackers from a state institution in the country, after earlier opposition claims that Treasury funds had been taken.
