TSMC Supplier GPTC Denies China Tech Leak and Sues Former General Manager

According to a media report, GPTC, or Grand Process, a supplier of advanced packaging equipment for TSMC's CoWoS technology, denied that any critical technology had been leaked to China. The company confirmed that it had filed a lawsuit against its former general manager over suspected trade secret infringement and was fully cooperating with authorities in the investigation.

The development comes as TSMC and its suppliers guard intellectual property closely, with many equipment vendors reducing their China operations or keeping only older equipment there to protect trade secrets. GPTC is scaling back its China presence after saying in December that it sold a 65% stake in its Shanghai wet-process chemical-making subsidiary and planned to sell the rest this year.
