SpaceX Reveals GPU Manufacturing Plans in IPO Filing

techbusiness 2 posts · 2 accounts

SpaceX disclosed plans for heavy spending on manufacturing its own graphics processing units, or GPUs, in an S-1 registration for its initial public offering, according to a Reuters report. The filing also pointed to substantial capital expenditures to develop AI and other technologies.

The GPU effort adds a new element to SpaceX's chip ambitions. While some of the company's semiconductor projects tied to satellites and space data centers were already known, details of a GPU program are new and would put SpaceX into a difficult part of the chip industry that supplies key processors for artificial intelligence.
